What is the Current Account Switch Service (CASS)?
Most customers will be eligible to use the Current Account Switch Service. This is a free service that makes switching bank accounts quick and simple – taking care of incoming / outgoing payments, outstanding balances and will close your old account.
Once you have opened your new account, you can choose a switch date that suits you. Please allow seven working days for the switch to take place and that your chosen date isn't a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday.

For the small number of customers who can't use the Current Account Switch Service, the switching process may take slightly longer. In any event, we will fully support you throughout your switching journey.
